Southeast Youth Academy (SEYA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community based organization. We work collaboratively with teens during out of school time to enrich their academic, social and cultural experience by providing scholastic support, creative programming, recreational activities and leadership training. SEYA is committed to helping teens in the Southeast Baltimore community grow into productive adults.

SEYA was created by a group of concerned citizen and youth who recognized the need for teens to have a place to go after school.  After operating at various locations including Saint Elizabeth's Church, SEYA purchased and moved into a home of its own in a former beauty school located at 3301 Eastern Avenue.  Currently programs for teens operate in the former Fort View Recreation Center in the rear of Canton Middle School.

SEYA's Middle School Program has six main components: Academic/Homework Assistance, Enrichment, Leadership Development, Science, Reading and Computer Exploration, Parent and Family Outreach and Field Trips and Team Building Exercises. Middle School youth from the Southeast Baltimore community come to SEYA five days per week to participate in these programs and activities.

The High School Program at SEYA has five main components: Academic Assistance, Enrichment, College Preparation, Entrepreneur Program, and Leadership Development/Life Skills.  Teens from the Southeast Baltimore community engage in activities up to four days per week at SEYA or partner locations.

SEYA recruits youth participants through active outreach into the community, and relies on its high quality programming to encourage participants to bring their friends. We have active partnerships with local schools, businesses, community organizations, non-profits and government agencies that support the work  of SEYA including the Creative Alliance, Merritt Athletic Club, the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Morgan State University and CampFire USA to name a few.

Parent and Fmily Engagement is essential to the success at SEYA.  SPA (SEYA Parent Association) works with the staff to be a resource for families and create linkages between, school, community and home.
